The Council's Plan

City Plan

“To secure a modern, high quality and sustainable mixed use, development to help meet the future needs of the city, improve accessibility and provide new community facilities to share with adjacent neighbourhoods.”

The aspirations of Brighton & Hove City Council for Toad’s Hole Valley in the City Plan, March 2016

Toad’s Hole Valley is identified for development in Brighton and Hove’s City Plan Part One. It is the largest greenfield development site in the City and represents a major opportunity to create new family and affordable homes, alongside a new secondary school, modern office space and community facilities. The site is allocated in the City Plan (policy DA7) to deliver a modern, high quality and sustainable mixed-use development.

SPD

The Council has since sought to guide how this development may look through a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which was adopted in early 2017. There has been extensive consultation with local residents to produce this guidance.

The submitted scheme has been meticulously prepared to ensure it meets all the criteria set by the Council, including density, affordability and sustainability.
