New homes will be low carbon, energy efficient and significantly cheaper to run than the average private sector home in Brighton and Hove.

The development will meet standards to reduce energy, improve efficiency and utilise renewable energy sources; carbon emissions will be reduced by 19% relative to Building Regulations requirements. The exact details are yet to be defined as this will depend on things like the types of uses within the development and the overall density.

However, it’s likely that the development will include high levels of insulation, LED lighting, the potential for electronic car charging points, heat pumps and energy generating systems such as solar panels.
